Bangladesh factory fire: asking the right questions...

For anyone with any knowledge of the garment industry in Bangladesh, the question has always been not if but where, when and how the next disaster would strike. But here’s a more pertinent question: given that the absence of basic safety practices made this tragedy entirely predictable and preventable, why did major North American brands whose products were made in the factory do nothing to prevent it?
